FAQ
Answers to common questions about Zodiac, security, and getting started.
Security & Trust Model
Is Zodiac secure?
Zodiac is non-custodial by design. Your assets remain in your Safe, controlled by your keys. Zodiac extends Safe’s security model without modifying it; policies are enforced onchain by audited smart contracts, not by operational trust or centralized infrastructure.
The Zodiac Roles Modifier has undergone multiple security audits and is used in production by leading DAOs and treasury management teams.
Does Zodiac have access to my funds?
No. Zodiac never takes custody of your assets. Policies are enforced by smart contracts that you deploy and control. Your keys and your Safe remain sovereign; Zodiac provides the tooling to operate them more efficiently.
How are permissions enforced?
Permissions are defined as onchain policies via the Zodiac Roles Modifier. When a transaction is executed, the smart contract verifies that the action complies with the policy before allowing it to proceed. This enforcement happens at the contract level, not through off-chain services.
Compatibility
What browsers are supported?
Zodiac Pilot is available for Chrome and Chromium-based browsers, including Brave, Arc, Opera, and Edge. The extension is desktop only. Mobile browsers are not currently supported.
Which networks does Zodiac support?
Zodiac supports all major EVM-compatible networks where Safe is deployed, including Ethereum mainnet, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Gnosis Chain, Base, and others. Network availability is determined by Safe’s deployment footprint.
Does Zodiac work with any dapp?
Yes. Pilot operates as a wallet provider that can interact with any dapp, no custom integrations required. Navigate to any dapp interface, and Pilot will capture transactions for batching, simulation, and execution through your Safe.
Getting Started
Do I need to deploy new contracts?
No. Zodiac works with your existing Safe accounts. To enable policy enforcement, you’ll deploy a Roles Modifier as a Safe module, a standard operation that doesn’t require migrating assets or changing your Safe configuration.
Can I use Zodiac with an existing Safe?
Yes. Zodiac is designed to extend existing Safe accounts. Import your Safe into the Zodiac App, configure policies as needed, and use Pilot to execute transactions. No migration or asset transfer required.
How do I delegate execution to team members?
Create a policy that defines the permitted actions, then assign team members to execute under that policy via a role. Assigned members can execute transactions within policy bounds without requiring additional signer approval. Full attribution of every action is recorded onchain.
Features
How is Zodiac different from using Safe directly?
Zodiac extends Safe with capabilities designed for operational scale:
- Simulation: Preview exact transaction outcomes, token flows, and state changes before signing.
- Batching: Combine multi-step workflows across dapps into single atomic transactions.
- Delegated execution: Authorize team members to execute within policy bounds, reducing signer coordination overhead.
- Dapp integration: Build transactions from any interface without custom integrations.
Safe provides the secure foundation. Zodiac provides the operational layer.
What is transaction simulation?
Simulation executes your transaction against a fork of the current blockchain state, showing you exact outcomes without committing onchain. You’ll see token transfers, balance changes, contract interactions, and any potential errors before you sign.
Can I batch transactions across multiple dapps?
Yes. Pilot records each transaction as you navigate between dapps. When you’re ready, execute the entire sequence as a single atomic transaction. If any step fails, the entire batch reverts with no partial execution.
What are policies and roles?
A policy defines what actions are permitted: which contracts can be called, which functions can be invoked, and what parameter constraints apply. A role assigns members to execute under a specific policy. Together, they enable delegated execution with granular, verifiable controls.
Pricing
Is Zodiac free to use?
Zodiac offers a free Starter plan for teams managing up to $2M in assets. The Starter plan includes core functionality with standard transaction fees (0.25% on swaps, 0.1% on bridges) and supports up to 5 users in a single workspace.
What does the Enterprise plan include?
The Enterprise plan starts at $9,600/year and is designed for institutions managing significant capital. It includes zero transaction fees, unlimited users and workspaces, full permission controls with allowances, gas relaying, SSO integration, premium support with white-glove onboarding, and enterprise integrations for compliance and reporting.
Are there transaction fees?
Transaction fees depend on your plan:
| Action | Starter | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|
| Swaps | 0.25% | 0% |
| Bridges | 0.1% | 0% |
Enterprise plans eliminate transaction fees entirely.
How is billing handled?
Plans are billed annually. Upgrades may be prorated, and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. For custom pricing or enterprise inquiries, contact ops@gnosisguild.org.
